We can craft these nosings for most flooring materials, as long as the material thickness is sufficient, ensuring a perfect fit and durable solution for any flooring type.

The questions customers ask right before requesting a quote.
You supply the flooring. We fabricate your own planks into finished stair parts so the color, grain, and sheen match your floor exactly. Drop material off at our Tukwila shop or ship it to us — we'll confirm the address when your order is placed.
It depends on the product, the plank width, and how many pieces you need. Send us your piece count and lengths and we'll tell you exactly how much material to bring before anything is cut. It's always better to send a little extra than to come up short mid-run.
Measure the finished opening wall-to-wall at the front edge of the step, then tell us whether each end is against a wall or open. If you're unsure, send photos and rough numbers — we review every order before fabrication and will flag anything that looks off.
Yes. We can supply pieces in full uncut lengths if you'd rather cut on site, or fabricate them to your exact finished dimensions. Just tell us which you prefer when you request your quote.
Yes. We fabricate left returns, right returns, both ends returned, or no returns at all — whatever your staircase layout requires.
All of them. We regularly fabricate from engineered hardwood, solid hardwood, LVP, and laminate from every major manufacturer. If your flooring can be milled, we can match it.
Most orders are fabricated within about one to two weeks after we receive your material and approved details. Timing varies with order size and shop volume — we'll give you a target date when your order is confirmed.
Yes. Most customers pick up at our Tukwila shop, but we can arrange delivery locally around Seattle and freight shipping outside the area. Shipping is quoted separately based on size and destination.
Tell us as soon as you notice. If material hasn't been cut yet we can adjust at no charge. Once pieces are fabricated, a remake requires additional flooring, so we always double-check your numbers with you before starting.
In most cases, yes. Send photos and, if possible, a sample piece or offcut. We'll match the profile and thickness so new pieces sit flush with what's already installed.
Only where an end of the piece will be visible. Stairs closed on both sides by walls don't need finished ends; open sides do. If you're not sure, send a photo of the staircase and we'll tell you.
Finished, sanded stair parts fabricated from your flooring and cut to your specified dimensions, with the returns and finished ends you selected. Adhesive, fasteners, and installation aren't included unless you ask.
It comes down to how your flooring meets the step. A square nose sits flush for a modern edge, a cap nose covers the existing tread, an overlap nose sits over floating floors, and a waterfall nose wraps the front face. Send a photo and we'll recommend one.
Yes. We fabricate male lock, female lock, groove-on-top, and tongue variations so the nose engages your flooring the same way the planks engage each other.
Measure the full width of each step and add approximately 1–2 inches so your installer can trim the nosing for an exact fit on-site.
Yes. Finished ends are available for stair nosings where the overhang is exposed approximately 1–5 inches or less on the left, right, or both sides. If more than 5 inches is exposed, a return tread might be needed. Let us know which steps require finished ends when submitting your order.
Yes — because it is made from your flooring. The color, grain, and sheen will match the surrounding floor exactly.
Cut off the roundover hang prior to install. Don't worry — our square stair nosings are built with a reinforced 1 inch overhang for maximum durability.

No. A standard stair nosing covers the front edge of the step. Your installer uses additional flooring planks behind the nosing to complete the full tread.
A stair nosing is the finished front edge of a stair tread. It caps the exposed edge of the step, protects the flooring, and gives the stair a clean, safe leading edge.
If flooring runs over the front edge of a step, yes. The nosing hides the raw plank edge, resists chipping, and provides the visual and physical edge people step on.
Most are installed with construction adhesive and finish nails or trim screws into the tread and riser. Floating floors typically use an overlap nose that isn't fastened through the plank.
Yes. We fabricate stair noses directly from your LVP planks so color, texture, and gloss match the floor exactly — far closer than a manufacturer's stock accessory.
A stair nosing is just the finished front edge added to an existing step. A return tread is the whole tread, fabricated as one finished piece with a returned (wrapped) end for open-sided stairs.
It should span the full finished width of the step. Measure wall-to-wall, then add for any open end that needs a return — we'll confirm the final length with you before cutting.
Many customers do. Installation is straightforward with a miter saw, adhesive, and finish nails. If you'd rather not, we can install in the Seattle area.
